We interviewed Zach West (he/him), 46 year old content manager, producer, and performer out of Las Vegas. Zach has been working in the adult industry since 1999.
“I started as a guest on an amateur swingers cam show. After that, I started working for them and developed my own website. This was back in 1999-2000.”
Zach’s preferred platform for connecting with clients and potential clients is Twitter. You can find him at https://twitter.com/InkedPOV.
When asked about the early days and learning how to run his business, Zach responded:
“In the beginning, it was hard making initial contacts, but that all comes over time. Also finding out what type of content sells the best, and what I enjoyed shooting the most.
You should always try and shoot what you enjoy, that way it always comes off as natural.”
What would you say has been the secret to your success?
“Maintaining good relations with talent, business owners and not getting involved in drama.”
How has working in porn changed you as a person or affected the way you see yourself?
“I can’t say that it has changed me in anyway as I’ve been doing it for 21 years now off an on… but it has opened my eyes to different aspects of how the public views sexuality, and allowed me the opportunity to meet and become friends with others who’s preferences, orientation, and identities differ from my own.
I can’t say we’re really different, because in the end… we’re all the same.”
How has your work affected your daily life and relationships with family and friends?
“The family who knows are supportive, and my friends all find it intriguing and interesting. I’m honestly not interested in watching adult videos anymore… I’ve seen enough. LOL!”
How has your work affected your view of society or perspective of porn in the context of the world today?
“Society as a whole are so sheltered. They watch porn, yet publicly admonish anyone who works in the industry or views it.
It’s a very hypocritical world out there; we just have to learn to navigate it the best we can.”
What do you think is the most important issue facing the industry today? What can we do?
“To be honest… the stigma that all sex workers are morally corrupt, dirty or sub-human. All we can do it try to educate.”
What are your thoughts about the future and continuing evolution of the adult entertainment industry?
“I’m intrigued on where it’ll go. I think Crypto payments will be the answer to the credit card companies banning adult. Who knows though,
the adult industry has always been at the forefront of innovation and adaptation…”
What do you wish you’d known about the adult entertainment industry before you took the plunge?
“Just how much work and effort it takes. It’s not as easy as most people think it is.”
What is the most important piece of advice you would offer someone just getting started in the industry?
“Do your research on the producers, talent and agencies. There’s a lot of scammers out there, and those who are out to take advantage of you, and also abuse you. It’s a rough business and ya need to be smart and aware.”
Our society has a lot of opinions about sex work. Tell us something about your work that would surprise the lay person who doesn’t know better.
“We can hold good solid relationships while still shooting with other people. There’s plenty of married couples, and partners in the business that do well. Also, there’s more chances for the general public to catch STDs than those of us in the industry.
We test every 14 days, whereas most people haven’t ever, or maybe once a year if that. “
Have any stories to share?
“All I can say is: Don’t shoot back to back scenes after eating a ton of Pizza. I may or may not have had to excuse myself to the bathroom… *god I was so sick… lol!”
Next up: “Starting to shoot more now that I’m living in Vegas, so more and better content coming soon!”
